2. Purpose
To answer your queries to Mateo on WhatsApp (by text or voice note) and reply with public information about the Town Council and the municipality, including an audio reply if you ask for one.
To understand how the service is used, only aggregated and anonymous data are used (for example, the number of queries or the most common topics), which cannot identify you.
No automated decisions with legal effects on you are made, and no profiles are created. Your data are not used for advertising.
3. Legal basis
Your consent (Article 6.1(a) of the GDPR), which Mateo asks for before getting started. You can withdraw it at any time by typing /retirar, without affecting the lawfulness of previous processing.
Using Mateo is voluntary. If you do not give your consent or withdraw it, you can still contact the Town Council through the e-office (sede electrónica) (opens in a new tab), by telephone on 928 661 350 or in person.
4. Data processed
- Telephone number, which is stored in encrypted and pseudonymised form.
- Messages you send and the assistant's replies.
- Voice notes and their automatic transcription into text.
- Technical metadata needed for the service to work (date and time, language, delivery status).
- Record of your consent (date and version of the text accepted).
Do not send Mateo health data or other particularly sensitive data, or copies of identity documents. If you are under 14, you need permission from your mother, father or guardian.
5. Processors and international transfers
The following processors act on behalf of the Town Council to provide the service:

Transfers to the United States are covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2023/1795) when the provider is signed up to it or, otherwise, by standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.
6. Retention
- Conversations: 30 days; then they are deleted.
- Backups: 14 days.
- Technical logs: kept without the message content.
7. Your rights
You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing and data portability, and withdraw your consent:
